What should I wear?
You’ll find all types of dress when you come to Memorial, from jeans and a t-shirt to suits and ties. Wear what you are most comfortable in. You’ll fit in no matter how casual or dressy.
What do you believe?
You can find an extensive description of what we believe here.
Which door should I use when I arrive?
There are two main entryways into the building. One is the main, front doors on the Madison Street side of the building. The other is the downstairs entrance accessed through the Jefferson Street side. Feel free to enter through either door for church services. If you come through the front doors, you’ll walk straight into the foyer and then into the sanctuary. If you come in from the downstairs entrance, you’ll be in the Fellowship Hall. Just walk straight through, up the stairs, and you’ll see the sanctuary.
What is a LifeLink Group and how do I get connected?
LifeLink Groups are a place where worshiping God and fellowship with each other link together. LifeLink Groups are usually groups of 12 to 15 people who get together to meet our goals of Bible study and prayer, churchwide fellowship studies, serving our community, and equipping our members to become leaders. You can find out more about LifeLinks here.
What is “The Grove?”
The Grove is Memorial’s children’s ministry for birth – 5th grade and their families. We do not provide childcare, but exciting, engaging discipleship for children. Parents are the authority in children’s lives by God’s design (Duet. 6:6-9). We are here to encourage and support families in this journey of each age and stage. In The Grove, parental involvement is the norm because it is fun and meaningful. Our church family feels blessed when new families and children come and we desire to make a lasting impact on their lives.
How long has Memorial been around?
MBC was organized on July 7, 1948. In a day and age when people move from town to town… from job to job… from house to house with such frequency, the concept of being in the same physical location for over 50 years feels peculiar. Even so, this is where Memorial’s contribution to the ministry of Jesus Christ begins.
How was the church founded?
Sixty-one people were responsible for starting MBC by meeting weekly in a building on the corner of Monroe and McCarty Streets in downtown Jefferson City. In 1949, MBC purchased its first portion of the land on which the church currently sits.
MBC paid $3,000 for land located at 1120 Madison Street. Excavation began in 1949, and services were held on campus Easter Sunday, 1950. Other building projects followed in 1952, 1953, 1959, 1964, 1966 and 1996 which comprise MBC’s current facilities. The building project completed in 1996 was critical, allowing MBC to update our facilities.
