Every ancient culture had a creation story. In most of them, the gods are at war. Creation comes from violence. Humans are an afterthought.

Then Genesis opens. God speaks. No conflict. No chaos. He simply speaks — and calls it good.

This God is different. He speaks to His children, not as slaves, but with blessing. He gives boundaries not to cage them, but to keep them. And when they broke those boundaries anyway, He didn't go silent. He came Himself.

This is the opening message of our Ten Commandments series — and it begins where the commandments actually begin: with the character of the God who gave them.

In this message:

  • How Genesis 1 compares to every other ancient creation story — and why the difference matters
  • Why God's first words to humanity were a blessing, not a restriction
  • What the garden command reveals about the character of God as Father
  • How Jesus treated the Ten Words — and what He said they're really for
  • Why Jesus is not just the message of God, but the Word of God made flesh
