Even when we are failing to understand or when we choose to pursue our own desires he provides for us. In Mark 8 and 9 we witness a dramatic turn of events in a short time. Peter proclaims Jesus as the Christ and then moments later is called an enemy of God. But the Lord does not just leave him in his sin. Jesus reveals his glory to Peter along with James and John. The same glory that makes Jesus worthy to save our souls. We can always count, even in our sin, for the Lord to provide himself.
